Divided into groups of 20, the groups were given, respectively, 1-, 3-, and 6-grams doses of Cinnamon in tablet form (an amount roughly equivalent to one-quarter teaspoon to 1 teaspoon). After 40 days, all three groups experienced a reduction in their fasting glucose (by 18% to 29%), triglycerides (23% to 30%), LDL cholesterol (7% to 27%), and total cholesterol (12% to 26%). By contrast, the hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) remained unchanged in all participants.

A 2012 study "Effects of Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Ceylon Cinnamon) on blood glucose and lipids in a diabetic and healthy rat model" published in Pharmacognosy by Priyanga Ranasinghe, Sanja Perera, Mangala Gunatilake, Eranga Abeywardene, Nuwan Gunapala, Sirimal Premakumara, Kamal Perera, Dilani Lokuhetty and Prasad Katulanda investigated the short- and long-term effects onf Cinnamomum zeylanicum on food consumption, body weight, glycemic control, and lipids in healthy and diabetes-induced rats. Results showed a lowering of blood glucose, reduced food intake, and improved lipid parameters in diabetes-induced rats.
